Project title: “Family of measuring devices for assessing the quality and energy efficiency of metallurgical raw materials”,
Project acronym: Karbonova
Project Objective:
LUKASIEWICZ – ITR has been supplying the market with innovative equipment for testing the parameters of solid fuels and metallurgical raw materials for many years. These devices have found many customers at home and abroad. Despite the numerous advantages, which include reliability, workmanship or measurement accuracy, some of the solutions, both in the sphere of appearance and technical solutions have become obsolete. The project aims to develop a new, consistent line of devices characterized by modern design and construction solutions. The issue of the appearance of the stand is extremely important when presenting equipment to potentially new customers, for example, at international fairs, where it is often possible to directly compare our products with those of our competitors (Carbolite, LECO, Automazione).
The work will be carried out on the basis of the following devices:
- The station for determining the reactivity of blast furnace coke CRI/CSR, which is offered by LUKASIEWICZ-ITR. Despite unrelenting demand, it is necessary to develop a new version of the station, due to increasing problems with access to the components used and the appearance that deviates from today’s design. The current device presents typical design solutions for the period in which it was created (1990s) – the elements controlling individual parameters work in a distributed system, controlled by a PC equipped with dedicated software. This software does not allow modifications, which is a significant disadvantage for some foreign customers. The stand has dimensions of approximately 1.8 x 1.0 x 2.5m (width, depth, height).
- A prototype device for determining the reducibility of iron ores, in accordance with ISO 4695, ISO 7216, and, in the future, ISO 4696-1 and ISO 4696-2. The device will be subjected to tests confirming the correctness of the adopted design assumptions and operation of the stand by LUKASIEWICZ-IMŻ. The project will also include an estimation of the service life of consumables and operating costs of the stand, identification of necessary design changes to improve user comfort and improve the stand. The appearance of the workstation will be adjusted to the design developed for the CRI/CSR workstation.
