Vacuum Technologies
Łukasiewicz–Institute of Tele- and Radio-Technology conducts extensive research and development work in the field of vacuum technologies and their applications in industry, energy, defense, and science. The Institute’s competencies include the development of devices and processes using high and ultra-high vacuum, as well as the integration of vacuum systems with electronics, automation, and digital control systems.
Our research focuses on the development of modern technologies for the manufacturing, processing, and analysis of materials under vacuum conditions. The Institute carries out both application-oriented projects and development work for industry — from concept through prototype to technology implementation.
The scope of research and project activities includes:
development of electron beam welding and material processing technologies,
development of vacuum chambers and process furnaces for heat treatment, melting, brazing, and repair,
design of sealing, power supply, and monitoring systems for vacuum devices,
testing of materials, components, and joints operating under high-vacuum conditions,
leak detection measurements, contamination analysis, and diagnostics of vacuum systems,
regeneration and development of vacuum pumps, valves, and high-vacuum equipment,
development of modern control, automation, and supervision systems for vacuum processes,
development of sensors, measurement systems, and electronics for operation in vacuum environments,
integration of vacuum technologies with the Industry 4.0 concept and real-time process monitoring.
As part of research projects, Łukasiewicz–ITR:
develops electron beam technologies for the aerospace, energy, and defense industries,
develops vacuum systems for special processes (e.g. metallization, vapor deposition, degassing),
conducts research on the durability and reliability of vacuum device components,
cooperates with scientific and industrial centers in the implementation of new vacuum technologies in a production environment.
Thanks to an apparatus base and an experienced research team, Łukasiewicz–ITR offers a comprehensive approach — from conceptual analysis, through technical design, to the execution and commissioning of vacuum equipment and support in implementation in industrial production lines.
