Intelligent value chain for the mining industry – project funded by Horizon Europe
A Holistic Digital Mine 4.0 Ecosystem is an international project focused on the industrialization, informatization and sustainability of the mining sector. Its goal is to provide solutions that will build an innovative digital mining ecosystem and a systemic structure for implementing Industry 4.0 in mining industrial centers.
The Mine.io solution will cover the entire value chain of the mining system, from exploration, mining and resource processing to waste management and post-mining operations. The consortium formed for the project, consists of 25 partners from different parts of Europe, including 4 from Poland: the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Tele and Radio Research Institute, the Łukasiewicz Research Network – EMAG Institute of Innovative Techniques, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. and the S. Staszic Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Cracow.
Specific objectives of the project:
- Building an open, digital and advanced digital infrastructure and the foundation of a “hyper-connected business” in the production of Mining Industry 4.0.
- Developing advanced, smart and integrated solutions with low environmental impact to increase sustainable extraction of strategic raw materials in Europe.
- Advanced mobility, logistics and supply chain operations.
- Digitization of assets and process equipment.
- Development of sustainable mining.
- Demonstrate and evaluate all Mine.io concepts and solutions in regional-scale pilot projects (implemented in WP6) – demonstrating the feasibility (supported by evidence) of an innovative technology solution to support I4.0 transformation in the mining sector.
- Organize and facilitate the uptake, replication and scale-up of technology solutions developed by Mine.io.
- Planning and supporting the use of project results.
- Communicate and disseminate the scientific and technical results of the project – reaching out to other R&D initiatives, the end-user community of the developed solutions and the global mining community for knowledge transfer and market development.
