Our electrothermal research activities cover a wide range of technical issues, including interdisciplinary aspects. The primary issues addressed currently by our team include:
- Precise modelling of the distribution of thermal fields inside the reactors of testing, measuring and production equipment. Finite element modelling is performed and the ANSYS computer platform is used.
- fields under dynamic temperature fluctuations to be precisely controlled, also in the course of endo- and exothermic processes.
- New solutions for temperature design and control in reactors used to grow semiconductor compound crystals. Technological issues of crystal growth are handled by the Institute for Electronic Material Technology.
- New methods and technologies for the evaluation of transformations occurring in coal, coke and metal ores under high temperature. The equipment is used in the mining, energy and metallurgical industries. In this respect, the team cooperates with specialised research facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic.
- New methods for manufacturing and development of special materials using plasma solutions. The methods developed are used to modify surfaces of solids and manufacture thin layers for electronic applications.
- An environmentally-friendly waste disposal method using plasma technology. The method permits degradation of, for example, solid electronic and plastic waste without the emission of substances that are harmful to the environment and humans.
As a result of the work carried out, numerous scientific publications were produced. Furthermore, they became the basis for several doctoral and habilitation theses.
